“Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists.” -Yoga Quote

Most Sundays, when I’m not traveling, I go to a yoga class with my wife. We get there 30 minutes early just to ensure that we get to choose our spot. I italicized early because even though my Yoga instructor doesn’t arrive until 3 minutes before the start of class, she’d say that I was on time to meditate, like the other early birds, on clearing my mind of external concerns.

“In stillness all conflict must end.” -Phillp Urso

Each day of school is a new beginning. While traveling to the building or for 5 minutes of being in our classroom or office, take time to quiet the mind. Set aside the stress of yesterday and the possibilities of conflict. Focus on breathing in, and out. We serve students and parents, whose needs are most important during the day. There are many challenges and tasks that threaten to consume our attention.

“Be at least as interested in what goes on inside you as what happens outside If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.” -Eckhart Tolle

Starting the day fresh gives us energy to tackle what may come. Like Yoga, clearing one’s mind prior to the start of school, enables us to be rooted in calm, and allows us to be our best person for the people we serve.
